Posted April 23, 2006 VISITING THE NATIVE AMERICAN COMMUNITIESIf you are planning to visit Native American Communities this summer, remember to observe visitors etiquette. Tribal Communities welcome visitors but each tribal community has its specific regulations governing visitor’s activities. The following guideline will help you enjoy your visit: · Respect the privacy of people’s home · Use designated trails and roads · Permission is needed before entering any sacred area or building · Most tribes restrict the use of alcohol and illegal drugs · Do not take photographs of people unless you have their permission and also never commercially reproduce photos without written permission · Do not remove any items or artifacts in any reservation, you may be subject to federal and tribal prosecution · During religious observance visitor should dress and act accordingly, speaking during dances or applauding afterwards is considered inappropriate · Casual clothes and a sweater for the summits and jungles.
