THE 'OTHER' MUSEUMS IN NEW YORK

We al know the mega museums in New York City, you know the ones I am talking about Moma, Guggenheim, Met.,...
On your next visit to the Big Apple, try venturing away from the famous museum mile, and visit the boutique museums:

1. The Museum of Comic and Cartoon
Art, location in SoHo:

This exhibitions focus on comic
themes, a wide selection from specific periods
in history to fairy-tail art.

2. The Skyscraper Museum located in the
financial district:

The evolution of the city skyline and a view
of the city’s past. Don’t miss the extensive display
of the World Trade Center site.

3. Cooper-Hewitt National Design
Museum located in the Upper Manhattan area:

This museum explores industrial and scientific advances; it
highlights design details of industrial and scientific advancements.

4. Museum of Jewish
Heritage, located in the Battery Park area:

This museum depicts the evolution of Jewish history, very
comprehensive and memorable.

5. Noguch Museum, long Island City:
The focus is on the large scale 3-D works, located
in old factory building displays and atmospheric
garden are worth the trip.

6. The Museum of the
Moving Image – Astoria, N.Y.:

This museum highlights all things cinema from glittery memorabilia,
still photography to moving images, the evolution of
movie and television cameras, sound, set
design, special effects, and costumes.

7. American Folk Art Museum – Midtown
Manhattan:

Folk art is the focus, a vibrant form of old
circus poster, ceremonial figurines, brilliant woven materials.

8. Museum of American illustration –
Midtown:

There are storyboards, textured drawings, etching,
collages and mixed-media pieces and full-color art
in water color. The same building houses the Society of Illustrators.
